Leather Espadrille Workshop

Leather Espadrille Workshop

Make your own embellished espadrilles using high quality industry waste leather in this full day workshop. Choose your leather from a range of beautiful colours and personalise with pom-poms or leather tassels. Embellishments are not compulsory so you can make your shoes as minimalist or as out there as you like!

During this workshop you will learn how to

  • Use templates

  • Cut leather

  • Use specialist glues

  • Punch holes

  • Blanket stitch

During the first half of the workshop we will be cutting and decorating a pair of uppers (leather parts of the shoe). The remainder of the day will then be spent completing the stitching on one espadrille and you will be given a needle and enough thread to finish the second at home.

Thursday 24th October

11am – 4pm

Tea, coffee and snacks provided but please bring your own lunch. There are plenty of cafes and take-aways within walking distance if you would prefer to pick something up.

No experience necessary, this is a beginner workshop.

Espadrille soles come in standard sizes and can’t be adapted during the workshop. The soles come up slightly large so if in doubt, go for the smaller size. If you don’t wear a standard size shoe and would like to make shoes that fit your feet better, the sandal making workshop may be a better option for you.

Workshop location - Oriel Makers Gallery, Pen y Lan Road, Roath, Cardiff
