Carefully curated and designed, this kit has been a dream of mine since I started making sandals. I wanted a kit that allows you to design and make from home, without pre-cut pieces and patterns so you get the pure satisfaction of creating something from start to finish. Once you’ve made one pair, you won’t want to stop!

Sustainability

Sustainability is a massive part of smug soles and because of this, I’ve been very careful in selecting the best quality leather from sustainable sources and packaging you kit in the most environmentally way possible. You can more about that here.

I’ve kept tools to a minimum, not only to save you money but also to save on waste and keep things simple. Once you have the set, you just need the soon to be released refill pack to make your next pair.

Colour options

Choose up to two. Once you have made your choice, type the colours into the ‘anything you would like to add’ box at the checkout.

• Forest Green (chrome tanned)

• Peppermint (supple vegetable tanned)

• Brown (stiff vegetable tanned)

• Grape (chrome tanned)

• Mustard (stiff vegetable tanned)

• Black (supple vegetable tanned)

• Black Suede (chrome tanned)

• Terracotta Suede (chrome tanned)

• Soft Pink Nubuck (chrome tanned. Nubuck is similar to suede but with a more velvet like texture)

• Tools for making your sandals. You'll just need to find a cutting mat and some masking tape.

  • Utility knife, Silver pen, Buckles, Chicago screws/rivets x 6, Dauber, Awl, Dividers, Hole punch x 2, Safety beveller, Ruler, Glue spatula.

• Brass hardware

• Vegetable tanned leather insole

• Durable black rubber outsole

Important information

• Size limitations - This kit goes up to a size UK 9 maximum. If you would like a bigger size, please get in touch.

• The kit will no longer come with the water based glue I hoped to use. Unfortunately it did not stand up to the product testing I did. The heavy duty glue supplied in the kit will certainly keep your soles on though!

• You will either need access to a belt sander or dremmel with a sanding tool, to finish the edges of your soles, or a good cobbler nearby (Timpson can do this!)
